The East Texas Council of Governments administers the various programs of the Workforce Solutions East Texas Board.
The East Texas Council of Governments is a voluntary association of local governments within the East Texas region. Its aim is to reinforce and strengthen local governments in East Texas by enabling them to provide more effective, efficient, and economical services. ETCOG complements local government without infringing on local home rule.
ETCOG was established June 8, 1970, to resolve common area-wide problems through cooperation and coordinated action. ETCOG provides a forum in which regional problems can be studied and resolved. Using ETCOG, individual governments combine their resources to meet challenges beyond their individual capabilities.
The East Texas Council of Governments serves the growing 14-county East Texas planning region which includes the counties of Anderson, Camp, Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Marion, Panola, Rains, Rusk, Smith, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood. Membership in ETCOG is open to all cities, counties, school districts, and other political subdivisions of the state located win the 14 county East Texas region.
