Youth Stand Alone Projects- 3-23-2010
As the Administrative unit for the Workforce Solutions East Texas Board, the East Texas Council of Governments (ETCOG) is soliciting proposals for the operation and management of Youth Stand Alone Projects for a period beginning July 1, 2010 and extending through June 30, 2011 with the availability of three, one-year additional options. Youth Stand Alone Projects are independently operated, year-round programs that provide allowable services under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). The purpose of Stand Alone Youth projects are to help economically disadvantaged Out-of-School youth ages 14 through 21 achieve academic and employment success.

Child Care Quality Training- 2-4-2010
In its role as administrative staff for the Workforce Solutions East Texas Board (WSETB), the East Texas Council of Governments (ETCOG) is, through a Request for Qualifications, inviting trainers to provide training for staff from local child care providers regarding specific trainings for infant/toddler; pre-school age; school age; Texas Rising Star providers with a total approximate budget of $280,000. It is specified times for delivery of training sessions shall occur during March through December 2010, with the first training session on March 11, 2010, and the last scheduled training on December 4, 2010. ETCOG reserves the right to extend the period of performance if conditions warrant.
Board Plan Modification- 6-11-2009
The Workforce Solutions East Texas Board is preparing a Modification of its Plan for the Texas Workforce Commission for the period covering October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2010. Modifications are required to update information in the current plan and to: (1) identify target industries including those related to the Governor’s six industry clusters; (2) identify demand occupations; (3) identify occupations among target industries for Workforce Investment Act training; (4) identify planned strategies in support of their target industries and occupations; (5)identify the strategic reemployment efforts being undertaken, and (6) report on successful strategies that align with the Governor’s priorities for the Texas workforce system.

East Texas Ready to Work Pilot Project
The Workforce Solutions East Texas Board will receive $500,000 from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) to fund the East Texas Ready to Work pilot project that will target individuals who are beginning to receive unemployment insurance (UI) benefits; and had an hourly wage of $15.00 or less.

Worker Training Initiative- Request for Applications
Request for Applications Now Available for Worker Training Initiatives With Primary Companies The Workforce Solutions East Texas Board is soliciting proposals for worker training initiatives with primary companies. The Employee Development Fund of East Texas is intended as an avenue for primary companies throughout the East Texas Workforce Development Area to access funding to provide worker training for current workers and new hires by partnering with providers such as local community and technical colleges or to train workers in-house. A “primary company” refers to a company in an identified industry specified in state statue that manufactures a product or provides a service where at least 50% of sales come from outside the East Texas Workforce Development Area.
