Board Plan Modification- 6-11-2009
The Workforce Solutions East Texas Board is preparing a Modification of its Plan for the Texas Workforce Commission for the period covering October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2010. Modifications are required to update information in the current plan and to: (1) identify target industries including those related to the Governor’s six industry clusters; (2) identify demand occupations; (3) identify occupations among target industries for Workforce Investment Act training; (4) identify planned strategies in support of their target industries and occupations; (5)identify the strategic reemployment efforts being undertaken, and (6) report on successful strategies that align with the Governor’s priorities for the Texas workforce system.

East Texas Ready to Work Pilot Project
The Workforce Solutions East Texas Board will receive $500,000 from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) to fund the East Texas Ready to Work pilot project that will target individuals who are beginning to receive unemployment insurance (UI) benefits; and had an hourly wage of $15.00 or less.

Worker Training Initiative- Request for Applications
Request for Applications Now Available for Worker Training Initiatives With Primary Companies The Workforce Solutions East Texas Board is soliciting proposals for worker training initiatives with primary companies. The Employee Development Fund of East Texas is intended as an avenue for primary companies throughout the East Texas Workforce Development Area to access funding to provide worker training for current workers and new hires by partnering with providers such as local community and technical colleges or to train workers in-house. A “primary company” refers to a company in an identified industry specified in state statue that manufactures a product or provides a service where at least 50% of sales come from outside the East Texas Workforce Development Area.
