Services at the East Texas Workforce Centers are publicly funded and available at no charge. Each month, over 10,000 customers come through the doors of the fourteen center locations throughout East Texas.
At the East Texas Workforce Centers, job seekers find well equipped resource rooms with Internet connections linking them to local, state and national job listings. Job seekers have access to the tools necessary to conduct their search. Computers, telephones, fax, and the latest labor market information make the job search easier and faster. Training and additional assistance is available for those needing extra help.
Businesses can post customized job orders and receive referrals of applicants who match their requirements. The Workforce Centers also offer a variety of business services including job fairs, employment law information and training information.
The East Texas Workforce Centers are locally controlled and are members of the Texas Workforce Network, which is sponsored by the Texas Workforce Commission. Through the Workforce Network, there are 28 Workforce Development Boards which are responsible for oversight of the Workforce Centers.
The East Texas Workforce Development Board is comprised of representatives of business, labor education and community organizations from the fourteen counties, which make up the East Texas Workforce Development Area. These counties include Anderson, Camp, Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Marion, Panola, Rains, Rusk, Smith, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood.
Along with oversight of the East Texas Workforce Centers, the Workforce Development Board is responsible a variety of employment and related training programs in the region included the provision of child care for working families and welfare-to-work initiatives. The Workforce Development Board is appointed by our local Chief Elected Officials Board of Directors, which also have oversight of workforce programs in East Texas.
The East Texas Council of Governments administers the various programs of the East Texas Workforce Development Board. ACS State and Local Solutions is contracted to manage the East Texas Workforce Centers.
