Under the Workforce and Economic Competitiveness Act, the responsibilities of chief elected officials in the East Texas Workforce Development Area are carried out by a Chief Elected Officials (CEO) Board. The CEO Board consists of the County Judges of each county of the East Texas Workforce Development Area and the Mayors of the Cities of Longview and Tyler.
The CEO Board is responsible for organizing and appointing the workforce development board; overseeing funding allocations within the region; and jointly approving workforce plans and the selection of Service Providers for workforce programs within East Texas.
The Counties of Anderson, Camp, Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Marion, Panola, Rains, Rusk, Smith Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood are designated as a workforce development area for workforce programs.
