Job Search Resources
You can choose from a range of job search services and resources provided in the East Texas Workforce Centers. Services and resources available include: job postings; job search tools; skills assessment and career exploration tools, training and education resources; labor market information, child care resources, and eligibility and referral information to appropriate programs and providers. Staff assisted services are provided by trained Career Specialist. Adaptive Equipment for the Visually Impaired is available.
Work search training seminars are available free to the public. Seminars cover a breadth of subjects from Resume Workshops to Job Search Techniques; from Secrets of the interview to Dress for Success. Each course is taught by experts and working professionals in the field. The Workforce Centers Resource Library is available to all job seekers. Resource rooms are staffed at all times to provide orientation to available resources and other services available through the Workforce Center delivery system. Computer & Internet Access is available: Sign up to use a computer in the Resource Room of your local Workforce Center to build your resume or access the Internet. With this vital resource you can enter the Texas Workforce Commission job banks such as America's Job Bank, WorkInTexas.com, as well as other state agency sites. You can also find information about local employers and communities around our area.

Customized placement services which involve significant one-on-one assistance with trained Career Specialist. Staff assisted services may include:- Program eligibility determination.

Programs & Services for Special Populations
Assistance and Benefits. You may qualify for state program assistance and benefits. Let our staff help you research this possibility.- Workforce Investment Act Services (WIA). Authorized under Title I of the Workforce Investment act, offers employment and training services to adults, dislocated workers and youths. There are three levels of service - Core, Intensive, and Training. Through WIA, individuals can access assistance in finding employment free of charge and may qualify for training if they lack the skills needed to earn a "self-sufficient wage."
- Subsidized Child Care. Child Care Management Services (CCMS) helps parents who are striving to become self-sufficient by giving them more choices in child care arrangements and by helping them find qualified caregivers. If you meet certain income guidelines CCMS can reimburse some or all of your child care cost.
- Food Stamp Employment and Training (FSE&T) Program. Seeks to provide employment services to those individual receiving food stamps.
- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). Employment services which is offered through the Choices Program to recipients of TANF. This program helps individuals receiving time limited cash assistance to find long-term employment.
- Welfare-to-Work Programs - Legislation aimed at reducing the number of welfare recipients by offering services to those most dependant on welfare.
- Veterans/Disabled Veterans Services. Program where Vietnam era veterans, disabled veterans, and recently separated veterans can receive job search assistance, education, and training.
- Rapid Response Program. Provides services to affected employees due to plant closings and layoffs.
- Project Reintegration of Offenders (RIO): Provides a link between education, training and employment during incarceration with employment, training and education after release in an attempt to reduce recidivism.
- Trade Adjustment Assistance and NAFTA/TAA Services - The Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) and NAFTA/TAA program provides training and job search/relocation assistance to individuals who lose their manufacturing jobs due to foreign imports.
- Senior Texas Employment Program (STEP) - the Texas Farmers Union Community Development Association, Inc. administers STEP, a nationally recognized non-profit program designed to provide part-time employment to eligible Texans over the age of 55 who are at or below the poverty guidelines.
- Texas Rehabilitation Commission (TRC) - TRC is the state's principal authority on the vocational rehabilitation of Texans with disabilities, except persons with visual impairments and the legally blind. The Commission's main purpose is to assist people with disabilities to participate in heir communities by achieving employment of choice, living as independently as possible and accessing high quality services.
- Literacy Council of Tyler (LCOT) - Literacy Council of Tyler provides services to adults and their families. Programs offered are reading instruction, GED instruction, English as a second language instruction, and family literacy activities. Programs are offered by trained staff and volunteers.
