TWC Launches MyTXCareer App to Connect Texans with Career Pathways

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has launched a new mobile app to help Texans explore potential career pathways and discover step-by-step resources to achieve their goals. With the launch of MyTXCareer app, job seekers can now find personalized occupation matches and recommended career paths based on their skills, interests, and experience. 


“The continued growth of Texas’ record-breaking economy creates opportunities for Texans to advance their careers,” said TWC Chairman Bryan Daniel. “The MyTXCareer app will be an important tool for Texans to discover potential career paths and match to a job opportunity with a Texas employer.” 


MyTXCareer app is a free resource designed to guide users to potential careers through three easy steps: browse occupations, explore pathways, and get support. While browsing occupations, users can view the average salary for the position, job demand, and position descriptions. 


“The MyTXCareer app will help Texans unlock potential opportunities and discover career pathways in high-demand industries,” said TWC Commissioner Representing Labor Alberto Treviño III. “I encourage job seekers and people wanting a career change to download the app and begin to build the skills needed for a new career in the Lone Star State.” 


Users can take a career personality quiz, and add their career goals, education, work experience, and skills. The app provides several possible career paths and information about resources and training. Users can request more information, which will connect them with their local Workforce Solutions office and TWC’s TX Credential Connect team. 

 

“The launch of MyTXCareer app is great news for Texas employers because it helps them hire people who are passionate about what they do in the best state in the nation,” said TWC Commissioner Representing Employers Joe Esparza. “This is one of the many innovative services TWC provides to make sure skilled workers are available for Texas employers who need them.” 


MyTXCareer is available for download in the App Store and on Google Play for iOS and Android mobile phones. The application is provided free to users and does not include advertising or in-app purchases.

Check this page for updates . SNAP SNAP benefits for November won’t be issued if the federal government shutdown continues past Oct. 27. WIC WIC benefits are not affected currently. TANF TANF benefits are not affected currently. Medicaid Medicaid is not affected currently. CHIP CHIP is not affected currently. Welcome, New Board Officers! Chair Gene Keenon & Vice Chair Pam Pearson

We are pleased to introduce the newest officers of our Board of Directors: Chair Gene Keenon, Municipal Services Manager at Republic Services, and Vice Chair Pam Pearson, Administrator of the Wills Point Economic Development Corporation. Keenon represents the Private Business sector and was appointed to the board on December 23, 2014. Pearson represents Economic Development and was appointed on March 17, 2015. Both have dedicated many years to the board and served as chairs of subcommittees, bringing valuable experience and insights to guide the board in supporting our community. "It is a great honor to accept the appointment as Chairman of the Board for the East Texas Workforce Solutions and to serve as a representative of the private business community. I am deeply committed to advancing the mission and values of this exceptional organization," said Keenon. "Having the privilege of doing business throughout all 14 counties in our region, I understand both the challenges and opportunities that exist within our workforce. I pledge to represent our entire area with integrity, dedication, and a steadfast focus on the prosperity and well-being of our citizens. "The Board’s team of dedicated and diverse volunteers plays a vital role in overseeing millions of dollars in training and financial aid programs that empower individuals through childcare support, education, and job-readiness. I have witnessed firsthand the importance of these services—growing up watching my own mother work tirelessly to support her family as a single mom without a high school education —and I know how transformative such resources can be. "Our collective mission is to improve the quality of life for all East Texans. That mission is also my personal goal, and I am eager to work alongside these board members and dedicated staff to strengthen our communities and expand opportunities for all." The Workforce Solutions East Texas Board works with the region’s chief elected officials and sets local workforce policy. The volunteer board is made up mostly of private sector members, along with representatives from labor, education, and community organizations. We proudly serve Anderson, Camp, Cherokee, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Marion, Panola, Rains, Rusk, Smith, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood counties. “I am truly honored by the opportunity to serve as Vice Chair of the Workforce Solutions East Texas Board," said Pearson. It is a privilege to work alongside such a dedicated group of leaders who share a strong commitment to strengthening our workforce and supporting the employers, families, and communities across our region. TWC Launches Employer Child Care Initiative

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) invites employers to apply for the Employer Child Care Solutions (ECCS) initiative. The ECCS initiative offers technical assistance to help businesses meet the child care needs of their employees. “At the Texas Workforce Commission, we are committed to keeping Texans working, and high-quality child care expands opportunities for families in the workforce,” said TWC Chairman Joe Esparza. “The Employer Child Care Solutions initiative encourages employers to pursue technical assistance for innovative child care solutions.” ECCS technical assistance providers will help employers develop child care solutions at or near the workplace. Employers will also gain access to resources and support services such as: Employee Needs Assessments Employer Feasibility and Cost Analysis Studies Options Analysis and Recommendations Reports Site Selection Reports Business Plan Development “The new Employer Child Care Solutions initiative is about bringing folks together to help working families find affordable, quality child care,” said TWC Commissioner Representing Labor Alberto Treviño III. “When parents have reliable child care, they can focus on their jobs, provide for their families, and keep our Texas economy strong.” Employers can visit the TWC Employer Child Care Solutions webpage to request guidance from a qualified provider. Services will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. “The Employer Child Care Solutions initiative is a valuable resource that can help employers unlock even greater prosperity for our Texas economy,” said TWC Commissioner Representing the Public Brent Connett. “By partnering with businesses, we're empowering working families to thrive, fueling workforce participation, and building a stronger Texas economy for generations to come.” Important Note: Technical assistance through ECCS does not include funding child care financial assistance (subsidies). In addition, the employer will not receive any funding through this initiative.
